GYROKINESIS
THE GYROKINESIS METHOD
GYROKINESIS® gently works the entire body with fluidity and is an exercise that is adaptable for all lifestyles. It is practiced on a mat and chair and encourages 360 degree movements to increase flexibility, promote efficient stretching, build muscles, and strengthen joints. Learning this 3-dimensional movement system can assist in ways such as achieving a higher level of sports performance or simply to make everyday activities more enjoyable. A Gyrokinesis practice will teach you to move your whole body with purpose, efficiency and with less forceful effort. Clients commonly notice improvements in their range of motion, pelvic floor, balance, core and gait.
SITTING
Classes begin with a gentle warm up on a chair to awaken the senses, open energy pathways, and to promote optimal function of the nervous system. Basic spinal ranges of motion are learned in preparation for more complex movements standing up and sitting on the floor.
FLOOR
standing
Standing movement sequences such as the knee and ankle mobilizations help to increase the mobility of joints and the capacity to use them to the fullest extent in all directions without jarring or compression. The standing sequences incorporate more balance and cardiovascular exercises.
“Our bodies communicate to us clearly and specifically, if we are willing to listen to them.”

I have been seeing Dominique for her private and group Gyrotonic and Gyrokinesis classes for over a year now and what a difference it has made to my overall health. When I started with her, I had several injuries and chronic pain in my shoulder, back and hamstring. Dominique was able to help me work out the kinks and tightness in my shoulders and neck that was causing the pain and now I am able to move so much better. I am able to do more of the things I love to do without pain. I love to hike and do yoga, sometimes I jog which I had not been able to do in years.
